Money Steve is a personal account notification service operated by Matthew Buck, an individual sole proprietor (232 N Opio Pl, Kihei, HI 96753). This Privacy Policy describes how Matthew Buck d/b/a Money Steve (“we,” “us,” or “our”) collects, uses, and protects information in connection with the SMS-based Service. The Service sends account activity summaries, spending alerts, and balance updates to registered users via SMS. By using the Service you also agree to our Terms of Service.

2. Information We Collect

• Mobile phone number(s) used to interact with the Service
• SMS message content sent to and from the Service
• Financial transaction data synced from linked bank accounts via Plaid
• Account balances and spending history
• Opt-in consent records (timestamp, IP address, user agent, verbatim consent text)

3. How We Use Your Information

We use collected information solely to:

• Deliver personalized financial summaries, alerts, and responses via SMS
• Analyze spending patterns and budget performance
• Categorize financial transactions
• Maintain opt-in and opt-out records as required by applicable law and carrier guidelines

4. Data Sharing

We do not sell, rent, trade, or share your personal information or financial data with any third party for marketing or advertising purposes.

5. Data Security

All financial data is stored in a secure, encrypted PostgreSQL database (Supabase) with Row Level Security enabled. API keys and credentials are stored as environment variables and are never logged or exposed.

6. SMS / Text Messaging

Mobile information will not be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. All categories of data sharing described in this policy exclude text messaging originator opt-in data and consent; this information will not be shared with any third parties.

We collect your mobile phone number and SMS consent solely to send you a confirmation and to notify you when your Money Steve beta access is approved. We do not sell this data. We do not share it for marketing purposes.

7. Opt-Out

You may opt out of receiving SMS messages at any time by replying STOP to any message. You will receive one final confirmation and no further messages will be sent. To re-enroll, reply START.

9. Data Retention

We retain your personal and financial data for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Service. SMS opt-in consent records are retained for a minimum of 4 years to comply with carrier and regulatory requirements. You may request deletion of your data at any time by contacting us at mattbuckrei@gmail.com. Opt-in records required for legal compliance may be retained in anonymized form.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by sending an SMS notification or by updating the “Last updated” date at the top of this page. Continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised policy. We encourage you to review this policy periodically.
